This morning I woke up and thought it might be nice to go to Fort Erie. As I headed out I heard the detector at mile18 of the Grimsby subdivision. I knew it might be NS 328 so I drove to Merritton.

NS 328 was meeting CN 422 at Clifton. I figured it was a good time to make my way to Fort Erie where I could see 328 again.

I spent the night at a friend's place in Scarborough and drove in from there this morning. I took Kingston Road and Lakeshore Boulevard and as I came up to Leslie Street I could see strange headlights in the centre of the street. Doh! It was CN running down the track between the east and westbound lanes of Lakeshore. I've wanted to photograph that for a long time but have never seen activity in the daytime before. It's always been dark. Today I had two problems. First I had no camera. Second, I wouldn't have been able to turn around and park in time to photograph it anyway. Oh well. At least I saw it.

I drove out ahead to photograph it but got confused and went the wrong way. Doh!!! I resumed my trek but wound up so far ahead that it would be dark before it caught up to me. I could have gone back I suppose, but I hoped to find other targets to photograph.

I woke up to sunshine and resolved to find some trains around the Paris area. CN train 148 was coming so I went to Paris West. It was a tie.

I was wondering why there were way more people beside the tracks in Paris than normal. When I drove past the Paris fair grounds I realized why. The Paris train show was this weekend. I'd totally forgotten about it. I then moved on to Princeton.

I was getting tired so I began my trek home. I stopped by Great Western Model Trains in Brantford first where I purchased three CP Difco dump cars. All in all it was a good day.

It was quite snowy this morning but I went trackside anyway. For a change I picked Fort Erie as a destination. It's not far and I don't go there often.

It was a cloudy day but I decided to take some work with me trackside anyway. I headed for Merritton where 422 was approaching.

The NI dispatcher stopped NS 328 as it passed me because of a track problem at mile 5.85 on the north track. A foreman was sent over to inspect the track before any trains were to pass. After a while a foreman cleared 328 over the problem with a 25 mph speed restriction.

By then I'd done all the work I could trackside so I returned home.

Well my voice hadn't improved much since yesterday but I guess I was well enough for work. I made it to the station anyway. I had my ticket so I guess I was committed to working another day in Toronto. While waiting for Via train 90 NS train 327 cruised past the station with the same power as yesterday's 328.

The weather was looking very nice this morning so I headed out to the CN Grimsby subdivision. Just after I got into my truck I heard train 421 call out the signals for Glenridge. I zipped over to Merritton to see it.

I started the day off by staying home sick but was feeling a bit better and claustrophobic by a little after noon. I headed to Merritton to see if anything was going on. Trillium came down the hill. They were pushing a tank car so I drove to the Kemira plant.

Trillium lifted the existing car and took it back to the yard to exchange it for the car to be delivered. I figured I'd have time for take-out before he'd be back.

OK, it was a rather miserable, gloomy day but I headed trackside anyway for the first time in 2006. Since the weather blew I didn't feel like venturing very far. I just went to Merritton again.
